Booking & Arrival

We recommend pre-booking your tickets on our website to guarantee entry on the date you plan to visit. A small number of spaces will be available to book on arrival, however these will be sold on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and you may be required to wait until there is an available timed entry slot.

For any queries related to booking online please call our booking line 028 9042 8428.

Tickets booked are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you have extenuating circumstances please call our booking line on 028 9042 8428 to reschedule your visit.

Yes we take bookings for groups of over 15 people – and you get a 10% discount! Please email us to discuss details of your visit, and to receive your discount. Please make sure you state the booking is for ‘Ulster Folk Museum’ in the email.

We no longer do a dual ticket for the Ulster Folk Museum and Ulster Transport Museum, and therefore you must book a separate ticket here if you plan to visit the Transport Museum on the same day.

If you are running late, we will make every attempt to process your booking on arrival on the same day and provide entry as soon as possible, however there may be a delay in gaining access.

We are able to scan your ticket on entry either from a printed ticket or on a smartphone or tablet. Proof of booking is required to enter the museum. If you forget your pre-booked tickets, we can check your booking reference but this may delay your visit.

The only discount scheme we are part of is Membership Plus. Just show your membership card at admissions. If you have any queries, please call our booking line on 028 9042 8428.

For affiliate member organisations such as Irish Museums Association, Art Pass or International Council of Museums, please call our booking helpline on 028 9042 8428 to book a time slot.

Members

Yes. Our members can book arrival windows online on the day you would like to visit or if you prefer to book over the phone please call 028 9042 8428 (Monday - Friday, 09.00 - 16.00).

HMRC has deemed priority booking to be an additional benefit to members, and therefore we are unable to offer priority booking for members as a result.

We would ask that members bring their membership card with them so our visitor team can validate their pre-booked ticket on arrival. We can also accept a member’s photographic ID for validation of tickets.

Safety & Accessibility

When you arrive at Cultra Station, you will come across the Transport Museum first. From there it’s a 15 minute walk to the Folk Museum. Please note the walk is uphill, so if you have any accessibility requirements please call us on 02890428428 prior to your arrival to make arrangements.

Your Visit

We estimate that most of our visitors will tour the museum site in 2.5 to 3 hours. There is no time limit to your visit and once on site, you can enjoy the museum at your leisure. If you are also planning to visit Ulster Transport Museum on the same day, we recommend you leave a further two hours for this and you’ll need to make a separate booking here.

Single-use visitor guide maps are available on your arrival to help you navigate the museum safely.

We do not provide guided tours, so you’re invited to experience everything the museum has to offer at your own pace. Visitor maps are available on your arrival and will help guide you around the museum. Please be mindful of other visitors on the site and respect social distancing.

Dogs are allowed in outdoor spaces at the Ulster Folk Museum however they must be kept on a short lead at all times. And we ask that you please pick up after your dog. Dogs are not permitted into the exhibit buildings unless your dog is an assistance dog.

Assistance dogs are dogs that are trained and required to provide a service to their owner/user. This includes:

  • Guide dogs who assist visitors with visual impairments.
  • Hearing dogs or signal dogs who help visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Service dogs who are not specifically trained for visual or hearing impairment, but are trained to do other work, such as provide mobility and emotional assistance to certain visitors.
