Two workshops: 10:00 - 13:00 & 14:00 - 17:00

Cordials have been made in Ireland for hundreds of years, using both wild and homegrown ingredients, as a way of preserving fruits and berries for the winter season and also as a handy store cupboard ingredient to flavour drinks and foods in what could sometimes be a monotonous diet.

As part of our Making programme, you can get hands-on making heritage crafts and artisanal things at our museum. Join our expert visitor guide, Claire, to learn how to make your own cordials in this three-hour workshop.

We’ll begin by taking a walk around the verdant hedgerows and country lanes of the museum’s rural area to forage ingredients.  We’ll then sojourn to the museum's Parochial House to make our cordials. At the end of this workshop, you’ll have all the knowledge you need to make your own cordials from foraged ingredients and take your own bottle of Folk Museum cordial home with you to enjoy over the winter months.

You should know:

  • Numbers are limited to five people per workshop.
  • Your ticket includes general admission to the museum.
  • There will be some walking required, please check the weather and wear appropriate clothing.
